A few days before this book was sent to the printer, while doing the final dummy, I met Tara Singh. Singh who originally was my family lawyer has become a personal friend to me. I showed him a prototype of the book. An observant Sikh, Tara told me ‘Is it Just Malays without Islam? I think all religions are having the same problem’.

The man was an accidental Muslim who used religion or nationalism whenever he saw that it could benefit his own agenda. Islam is the total opposite of what he was.
Similarly,After 9/11, those who hijacked the plane under the name of Islam, the Wahhabi fundamentalists not only killed innocent people and hijacked a plane, but what they did was hijack the image of Islam, pirates who robbed Islam from the pure essence that Muhammad, mercy to all mankind had brought.

How deep is Rasulullah’s love to us? He is indeed sent as a mercy to all mankind, rahmatan lil alamin. And the life of the lover of Allah ended. Could we love each other like him? Do we embody his teachings of love, mercy,modesty and humility? Or are we starting to see ourselves as pirates, those who select certain sayings of his or verses of the Quran only to advance our own agenda or to have followers?

What was happened to your shahadah? There is no God but Allah and Mohammad is the messenger. Who’s ‘sunnah’ you follow? One propagated by Dr. Asri, ex-mufti who was arrested by JAIS for spreading the teaching of Wahabism against the Sunnah of Rasulullah (PBUH) as understood by the ahlul sunnah?
People who defend him will say that the state or the religious authorities cannot arrest a man for exercising his freedom of speech. Suddenly Asri became the bastion of religious freedom, while some rally behind him calling him the new ‘Kaum muda’ continuing the thoughts of people like Syed Sheikh Al-Hadi and Hamka.

The fact that people like Nordin Mat top, Kahar or Ayah Pin enjoys large followers show something about the psychology of the Malay people and their need to be in groups.
Ulema have to be sensitive about all this sociological insights about what it means to be a Malay. Of course He boasts a degree from a reputable university and a Phd in Islamic studies from UIA, not to mention a previous Mufti of the state of Perlis, but one can be so competent in jurisprudence in the practice of law and yet not be able to practice without the CLP, similar is the case with accountants, architects or medical doctors.
The tauliah system is far from perfect, but if an ex-mufti shows a blatant disregard for it, then people who are far less intelligent or those without the best motives will follow suit, what is needed then is not the total destruction of the Tauliah institution, but an overhaul of the system to be able to accommodate the growth of technology and information, but yet able to preserve a culture threatened to be loss altogether.

It is perplexing that the point of contention between saudara serumpun (brothers from the same stock) - where similarities abound and differences are few - are in the cultural realm. Nusantara is supposed to describe people of the same origin, speaking the same language and practising largely the same culture. In fact, Bahasa Malaysia and Bahasa Indonesia evolved almost alongside each other. The existence of various committees set up to facilitate the developement of both languages, including the coining of words and phrases, had been in place since the 1960s. Of course, it is easier said than done. Both languages developed their own nuances and idiosyncrasies. Back then, Indonesian writers were household names in Malaysia and P.Ramlee did more that just entertain - he united the various ethnic groups that made up the Malay diaspora.

Do you automatically become a Muslim just because you have a Malay name? All Muslim are brother’s to other Muslim, how come a group of Indonesians, the most populous Muslim nation in the world declare war on Muslims in Malaysia? Is it not Allah who decide who goes to heaven or hell? The road to heaven is easier if you can get ‘shafaat’ from Rasulullah not simply passport to hajj. Why must you sell your soul to the devil? Just because you want to be a VIP? Yes, your father mother happened to be Muslim because your grandfather and grandmother happen to be Malay. A Malay loses the status of being Malay if he is not a Muslim according to the constitution. Islam is a complete way of life. You are also not a Malay if you don’t speak Malay and live according to Malay culture. Is Malay more important than Islam?

Does he know what Syed is? And Nik Aziz say’s Allah is a ‘rogue’, bigger rogue than members of UMNO because of the word Al-Jabbar siffatullah in asmaul husna. If leaders and ulama is bad, it is like a fish who’s head is rotten, the body will follow. When people are powerful, rich and famous, they seem not to need God? It is un lawful to punish every other Muslim who does not abide under Islamic administration enactment belonging to another sect.
What has the pirates done to the ahlul sunnah? Abu Talib is crazy, a sex maniac, why should the children fall prey and victim to the authorities? You think our conscience is clear when we see such cruelty happening under our nose and we do nothing, say nothing? Thanks to the Director of Prison who help me to allow the babies to live with them during the sentencing. Is this really part of the Hudud that Allah send down, or has the religious leaders again succeeded in pirating the law of God? Lu fikirlah bro... I am very thankful to God, the Al-Mighty that has entrusted me with so many newly born babies whom I never met and they don’t know me either yet they can except me as their protector. This is what happen to the so called religious man who have holes in their head.
They forget the bigger the turban, the better for satan’s hide out. I love them and they love me too. I worry when this children grow up what will they think of the Religious Department of Johor and the Muslim of Malaysia who condemn them? God had granted me the strength and courage not to panic, maybe because it has always been my philosophy that I shall pass through this world but once. Any good thing therefore, that I can do, or any kindness that I can show to any fellow creature. Let me do it now. Let me not defer or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again.
This is the attitude of our people who think in a very closed box, blinded by their ego and have a heart of blind hatred toward people who has been branded as Syiah by the pirates and Lawrence of Arabia. God, the symbol of love and humanity have left the heart of the Muslims, has God too forsaken the Muslims? Have the children of Abraham lost the personal connection their Ancestor had with Yahweh/Allah?
Does He no longer speak through them? In the book of J, or the earliest bible, Yahweh/ God had spoken to Abraham, before He was to destroy the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham pleaded saying would God destroy a people whom among them are the sincere of heart?
God said so long as there were fifty, and in the exchange Abraham managed to ask God to save a community so long as there were 10 of the sincere. How about us now, have we taken to leave Him in wholesale when we breed contempt and blind hatred? Will you not try and awaken the consciousness of God in your heart and mind? High time we should stop the practice of Blind Hatred towards anybody. Islam teaches you to have ‘Husnu zonn’ (positive thoughts). Look at other as a mirror.
Why should we hate anybody according to our own judgement or according to the books of ulama from different schools of thought without questioning? For example, A man who keeps a dog, they level him as murtad, also if he is a dancer like Ramli Ibrahim. Ramli does not do harm to others, he is Malaysia’s world class Indian Clasical Dancer.
What about those noise makers in the mosque? Why punish only the repentant Kartika caught drinking beer? What about the one who serve and the one who sell the beer also the owner of the beer industry? Those who make money from it’s licensing and taxes? Those who use zakat and fitrah money for their own? How about those who madly exploit nature for their own benefit? Those who swindle and plunder the funds of others and are like psychopaths when it comes to money and profit? And how about those who are in the position of power who exploit the trust of the people?
Do we dare voice it out because it was done by those who have power?
